Germany: Simone Biles broke the records on the last day of the meet on sunday at the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships for most world medals by any gymnast, male or female. Simone Biles wins gold on the balance beam.
Less than an hour later, Simone returned to the arena and won a 25th medal. She alone has successfully landed in competition — to extend her record-setting tally.
She earned 5 gold medals alone, believed to be the most by one gymnast since Soviets Larisa Latynina and Boris Shakhlin in 1958 (when Latynina was pregnant).
She hit a clean beam routine and scored 15.066 points, distancing defending champion Liu Tingting of China by .633 of a point. Li Shijia took bronze and Sunisa Lee took silver, a full point behind.
Last Saturday World Gymnastics Championships, She landed two new skills that had never been performed in competition. Both are expected to be named after her, bringing her total number of signature moves to four.
